ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactive disorder, affects over 8 million people in the United States. This condition, which makes it difficult to concentrate or perform simple tasks, is often treated using medication, but one company is stepping forward to shake up how the disorder is treated.

EndeavorRX is the first prescription video game, designed to treated ADHD in young children. The game, which was developed by a team of neuroscientists and award-winning game designers, uses sensory stimuli and simultaneous motor challenges designed to target areas of the brain that play a key role in attention function.

The video game can be prescribed by a doctor and is FDA-certified according to the EndeavorRX website.

The game tasks children with navigating levels while completing multiple tasks at the same time while avoiding obstacles. While it can be frustrating, the developers of the app say it is meant to teach focus and adaptive skills.

According to the developers research, the app when used as directed has helped children with ADHD improve their objective attention.

While the company hopes to help children with ADHD improve their attention and focus, the company also notes that the prescription video game is not a subsitute for medication or regular therapy.
